Pre-Requisites
- Basic criteria to be eligible for Wage Subsidy
- Proof of license to operate in Ethiopia
- Retention of 80% of pre-COVID-19 employees employee levels at the time of application as evidenced by payroll records from January 2020 to the month of application submission
- Evidence of having experienced an ‘economic’ shock as evidenced by significant1 drop in exports, sales or orders and/or reduction in incomes or profits. Applications will review export and sales information and profit and loss statements for a two-year period between May 2018 to May 2020.
- Evidence of an adequate business recovery or continuity plan.
- Basic Criteria for Innovative Incentive Allowance
- Developed new production lines or made changes to existing ones
- Factories that have repurposed or started new lines for personal protective equipment production
- Factories that have changed core goods to ones with more market access e.g. From suits to t-shirts
- Made efforts to find new markets or new clients
- Factories that are selling in new local, regional or international markets
- Factories that are selling to new clients/brands
- Made efforts to invest in human capital development
- Factories providing training for new production or in preparation for recovery
- Made any other efforts not listed above to respond to the shocks
How to Apply
Once you are ready to apply, follow the steps below.
- We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

- When you have opened an account, you can start your application.
- You will now be asked to provide some basic information. This will help us establish whether you are eligible for funding or not. You will need to provide this information whether you are applying for the wage subsidy only or the innovation incentive allowance, or both

- Please make sure you have all this information before you start your application. Make sure all the necessary accompanying documents are signed, complete and attached with your application.
- All applications will be handled on a first come, first served basis and processed and evaluated on a weekly basis
- Any applications that are not complete will not be eligible and will go to the back of the queue to be completed.
- There is no guarantee that an application will be accepted either for the wage subsidy or innovative incentive allowance. This is entirely at discretion of the Facility.
